Brazil - Manaus Rain Forest

Never wrestle alligators more than 1/10 your size.

Location: Rainforest, 50 miles north of Manaus, Brazil.
Description: This picture was taken on a side trip up the Rio Negro to a place called Ariau Towers. I highly recommend this side trip in which you can actually stay in a tree top hotel for two nights. I suggest the Tuceman package(~$500). You will have several daily expeditions, including fishing for piranha, capturing and releasing alligators, playing with monkeys, and floating down the Amazon. You can eat the piranha you catch, but I'd recommend against it.

All the fresh fish was safe and GOOD! One safety tip: only drink water from small bottles. Turns out that the 5 gallon water bottles are just filled straight out of the tap, which may come from the river. The small water bottles are properly sterilized.
