Personal
Vehicles at UCAR
Definition
Personal
Vehicle
Any automobile,
truck, bicycle, or motorcycle operated by an employee or visitor
that is not owned, operated, or leased by UCAR.
Traffic
Control
Employees
and visitors must comply with all State, municipal, and UCAR-posted
traffic control regulations and directions of security personnel.
Employees, vendors, or visitors who violate traffic regulations
may be barred from operating their vehicles at UCAR sites.
General
Parking
Personal
vehicles must be parked in areas designated for general use, and
in a manner which does not cause the vehicle to occupy more than
one parking space. Motorcycles must be parked in areas set aside
for them, and bicycle racks and/or lockers are provided at all UCAR
sites for bike parking. Personal vehicles may not be stored on UCAR-occupied
property; however, employees, whose travel on UCAR business necessitates
it, may park their vehicles at UCAR sites during such travel. Employees
should contact security personnel for parking instructions if the
need arises to park personal vehicles on UCAR property for longer
than 48 hours. A personal vehicle improperly parked, or parked in
other than the designated areas, may, at the discretion of Safety
and Site Services, be towed away at the owner's expense.
Parking for People with Disabilities
Parking
places near building entrances are provided and reserved solely
for disabled and medically restricted employees and visitors. Vehicles
parked in these designated spaces must display the appropriate temporary
or permanent disabled person's license plate or tag. An application
form for license plates or tags can be obtained at the Colorado
Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division or on their web site
Colorado
Motor Vehicle Registration Forms Index. Only permits
issued by the state will be honored.
Responsibilities
Physical
Plant Services is responsible for providing designated parking areas
for disabled employees and visitors, in compliance with Federal
and State codes and employee and visitor needs.
Security personnel, under the direction of the Director
of Safety and Site Services, are responsible for patrolling UCAR
parking and traffic areas and enforcing parking and traffic regulations.
The Boulder Police Department also has authority to enforce regulations
on the UCAR premises.
Employees are responsible for adherence to the traffic and
parking restrictions while on UCAR premises.
