are provided via a contracted professional security firm, AlliedBarton
Security Services. The contractor is managed by the UCAR
Director of Security, Steve
Sadler, x8550. Protection is provided via remote surveillance
and officer foot and vehicle patrols. The Security office is
located at the Mesa Laboratory front desk and is occupied 24x7x365.
You can contact the on-site security officer at x1139. In emergencies,
security can be reached at x1911.
Special
Services
Security offers the following special services to all employees:
- Escort Service to your vehicle, x1139. **
- Vehicle dead battery jump-start (requires a written release of responsibility)
- Extra coverage for special events (approval of UCAR Security Director required)
- Coverage of front desks during off hours
- Road side assistance
- Building Information
- Emergency Response (Medical, Fire, and Law Enforcement)
** Escort Service to your vehicle: Escort services provided by Allied-Barton Security are limited to observe and report action. Allied-Barton Security will not provide escort service for individuals involved in domestic disputes or violent situations Persons concerned with these matters should contact the local police department for additional protection.
Guaranteed Ride Home Program
The Guaranteed
Ride Home Program provides free taxi service in the event
of problems and may be used by any UCAR/NCAR/UOP employee
who has used an alternative means of transportation to get
to work (Bus, Walk, Bicycle, Carpool, Shuttle).
To access, please
call the Receptionist at x1126 (ML) or x8700 (FL) during business
hours or the Security Officer at x1139 (off-hours).
Examples
of emergency:
- Employee or
family member becomes ill
- Employee unexpectedly
works late, and cannot use alternative transportation to
get home.
Not covered:
- Car breaks down
- unless they are the driver in a carpool that day
- Normal work
hours do not match shuttle service
- Pre-scheduled
appointments
