Confined Space Safety danger sign

 

The Confined Space Safety program is provided to protect staff who’s job duty requires them to do work in confined spaces by complying with regulatory requirements of the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146

Confined spaces are spaces having adequate size and configuration for entry, with limited means of access or egress, unfavorable ventilation and not designed for continuous employee occupancy. These spaces may include, but are not limited to, underground vaults, tanks, storage bins, pits, vessels, sewers, and silos.

Responsible working group shall request permission from Health, Environment and Safety Office to perform confined space work. HESS Staff will assist with Confined Space entry by evaluating work site and monitor conditions for safety of workers.

User requirements:
      To be trained and authorized before entering Confined spaces.

HESS Office:

  • Develops policy
  • Issues a permit
  • Approves confined Space entry
  • Monitors work site
  • Trains personnel

Confined Space Safety Manual:
     Details Confined space entry requirements and necessary training and procedures.
