Upper Leg: Hamstring Stretch

 
  • Sit upright on the edge of the chair with the left foot flat on the floor and the right leg extended in front of you with the right foot flexed and the heel on the floor.
  • Keeping the back straight, slowly lean forward.
  • Feel the stretch in the back of the right thigh (hamstring).
  • Hold for 4-5 slow breaths.
  • Slowly lean back to the upright position.
  • Switch legs and repeat.

Lower Leg: Calf Stretch

  • While leaning forward against the wall with your arms straight, extend the left leg back with the ankle flat on the floor.
  • Keep the left leg straight and the right leg slightly bent.
  • Feel the stretch in the left calf muscle (gastrocnemius). See video #1
  • Hold for 4-5 slow breaths.
  • Slightly bend the left leg, keeping the heel flat on the floor.
  • Feel the stretch in the left calf muscle (soleus). See video #2
  • Hold for 4-5 slow breaths.
  • Slowly return to the standing position.
