Can UCAR's automobile insurer exclude me from work related coverage even though I meet UCAR's acceptability requirements for driving? Do regular drivers and acceptable drivers have different requirements to be able to drive on UCAR business?

Regular drivers and Acceptable Drivers share the same requirements. The difference is that Regular Drivers have driving specifically listed as an integral part of their PD and sign a release allowing UCAR and its insurer to pull their MVR to verify acceptability. Casual/occasional drivers self report that they meet UCAR's acceptability requirements.

Currently, UCAR's acceptability requirements for driving are not as strict as what our commercial automobile insurer requires. While both UCAR and Chubb exclude for a major conviction, Chubb also excludes for an accumulation of three minor violations within three years, whereas, UCAR doesn't make this distinction. Unfortunately, if Chubb excludes an individual from our policy, UCAR can no longer allow that person to drive for business purposes at all.
