EXPORT COMPLIANCE – Sarah Pritchard, the Associate General Counsel and an Export Compliance Specialist for UCAR, will come to discuss issues and procedures regarding Export Compliance.

MARCH 2008 MEETING – The March 2008 meeting will be Thursday, the 27th, 9:30-10:30 a.m., at FL3 Room 2072.  The meeting schedule is posted on the Web page through October 30th, 2008.

INVENTORY UPDATE – RAL is currently doing inventory, with only about 28 out of 428 left to resolve.  The next inventories will be IT in March, ASP in April, and ACD in May.  Then there are nine inventories in June and seven more in July.  We will complete the cycle sometime in October or early November.

RESP PERSON UPDATE – The January 2008 Responsible Person Update is coming to a close.  Chris has made approximately 138 changes in the database, compared with a total of 292 for the last update.  We continue to see improvement in the total amount of corrections, while seeing more of the staff actually checking assets off as they verify them.  Of course, location is the winner again this time, with 68 of the 138 corrections.

WEB SITE CLARIFICATION –  Please give us your feedback on what areas might be unclear or that you think might need to be elaborated further or what information you would really like to have.

TRAINING – Since Betsy is new in this position there might be a need for Fixed Asset training and CIP training.

FADB REVIEW – The May 2008 meeting is scheduled in the CTTC (CG2), and the time is extended to two hours, instead of the usual one hour.  This is a good time to get refreshed on Bi-Tech and any problems you may have accessing your assets.  Please use this time to ask about reports that you may be able to use, and questions as to what you have access to change in the records.

OBJECT CODES –  Object code changes…Chris has been working on changing object codes on non-asset items when he reviews the PR’s.  Most items come in with a 5260 object code, and he has been correcting them to read 5280 for computer parts, 5281 for computer systems, 5284 for tech/scientific parts, etc.  We run reports at the end of year and we need to have these in the correct object codes.

SENSITIVE PROPERTY  Master Lists – Many of the divisions have been sending in their sensitive property lists, and Chris is converting them into a list that is comparable to the inventory Master List.  This will help the divisions out when it comes to doing their sensitive property inventories.  You can request a Master List from Chris and he will see if a scanner is available for use.  Scanners will be available to borrow only if he has one that will not be used in the Fixed Asset inventory.
