Smoking in the Workplace Policy

4-9

UCAR is committed to a smoke-free environment for employees and visitors to all its facilities. Consistent with this approach, federal regulations, and state and local laws, UCAR permits smoking only in designated smoking areas near the facilities that it owns or operates. Specifically, smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of building entrances, air intake ducts, and operable windows, all UCAR shuttle vans and GSA vehicles.  Smoking areas away from facilities will be designated by signage. All smoking materials in any designated smoking areas must be disposed of in appropriate receptacles.

Employees working in non-UCAR facilities should comply with the regulations of those facilities.

Smoking is defined as the lighting of a cigarette, cigar, pipe; the possession of a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe; and the use of e-cigarettes or other electronic smoking devices.
