Except in unusual cases, the radio frequencies used by UCAR-managed projects are authorized through the cognizant government sponsor. The government sponsor receives authorization for the use of frequencies from the Interdepartment Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC). UCAR employees must ensure that their use of radio frequencies is authorized by and is in accordance with procedures approved by the sponsoring agency and IRAC.
The President appoints an employee as UCAR's Radio-Frequency Coordinator to act as the central information and control point for all matters related to the allocation or use of radio frequencies. Employees must forward all requests for frequency allocations and all questions about frequency use to the Radio-Frequency Coordinator.
