Description: In the 1980s and 1990s, NCAR used this Schweizer 2 32 sailplane to study steady state wave clouds, other small clouds, and developing thunderstorms. The sailplane has instruments for detecting cloud physics and electricity within clouds. The sailplane was featured in the 1995 IMAX feature Stormchasers, filmed and produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films
