Document Title:
Near the headwaters of the Colorado River (DI02520) Photo by Nicole Gordon
Description:
A wintery scene near the headwaters of the Colorado River outside of Vail, Colorado. The Colorado flows 1,450 miles from the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains into the Gulf of California in Mexico. Extensive use of its water for irrigation and urban use, along with evaporation from reservoirs, has resulted in the frequent drying up of the river downstream of Yuma, Arizona.
