Document Title:
Icebergs, Grey Lake (DI02253) Photo by Carlye Calvin
Description:
Grey Glacier in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile, is located in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, west of the Cordillera del Paine. It flows south into Grey Lake, which is filled with icebergs calved by the glacier, such as those in this image. The glacier retreated 2.3km in the 22 years from 1986 to 2008, an average of 100m per year, largely due to increased regional temperatures and decreases in precipitation.
