Description: Tropical Storm Gaston as seen from the Gulfstream V research aircraft. During the PREDICT field project NCAR and university researchers convened in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to investigate tropical cyclogenesis (how tropical cyclones develop and strengthen), one of the most challenging aspects of atmospheric science. Gaston was one of the disturbances they studied.
