Description: The Gulfstream V ready to take off on a mission to study Tropical Storm Gaston. During the PREDICT field project NCAR researchers convened in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to investigate tropical cyclogenesis (how tropical cyclones develop and strengthen), one of the most challenging aspects of atmospheric science. The scientists used the Gulfstream V research aircraft to analyze tropical disturbances that showed the potential for developing further.
