The BEACHON field project explores how trees and other vegetation influence rainfall, temperatures, smog, and other aspects of the atmosphere. This image shows one of the researchers descending one of the instrument towers in a ponderosa pine forest. The instruments on these towers are designed to measure emissions above the forest canopy.
