Facilities Upgrade Project Documentation
Speaker: David Patterson
How does your government Facility Owner know when their building(s), or the major facilities equipment, needs replacing? Do they (and you) know the associated costs?
UCAR recently developed a method to capture, prioritize, estimate and schedule facilities capital spending for all its buildings; both UCAR and National Science Foundation (NSF) owned buildings. We were able to create a high-level document that we send to the NSF annually. It keeps them informed of our facilities spending plan and provides them with an additional budget planning tool. Before this annual document, NSF had little insight to our long-range facility spending plans.
If you are not providing your building Owner with a long-range facility spending plan then this session is for you. I will explain the steps we took to:
- capture the information,
- how to prioritize the work,
- estimating tips, and finally,
- how to package all results into an annual document for NSF (or other Government Agency) use.
