Ms. Simon is the director of Utility Innovations and Smart Grid Strategy for Xcel Energy, a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company that serves eight Midwestern and Western states. In this role, she is responsible for guiding the company’s efforts (in conjunction with key business partners) to integrate smart energy technologies that can fundamentally change the way the utility produces power and delivers it to consumers.
Prior to her current position, Sandy was appointed Chief of Staff to Xcel Energy’s Chief Administrative Officer to assist with the overall coordination of planning for the Customer and Enterprise Solutions business area, which includes information technology, human resources and customer care & revenue cycle.
In 2003, Sandy headed up the newly formed Program Management Office where she drove the creation and implementation of processes and tools used to govern and manage IT capital spend.
She joined Xcel Energy in 2001 as the Energy Markets manager of information technology and has previously held project management and IT integration positions at AIMCO, KN Energy, Price Waterhouse and Deloitte & Touche. Sandy has extensive experience in process design and improvement, staff management and project/audit engagement.
Sandy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor or Science from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri with three majors in Accounting, Computer Science, and Business Management. She will receive a Masters in Business Administration from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver in March 2008.
