Steve Sadler is currently the Director of Safety and Site services for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research/National Center for Atmospheric Research where he has worked for the past 19 years. Steve’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in microbiology and minor in chemistry. Steve also has a master’s degree in environmental health, with a specialization in air pollution, from the University of Minnesota.
Steve has been involved with Business Continuity/Emergency Response and Disaster Recovery since the early 1970’s when he was on local environmental health department response teams in Boulder Colorado. Steve was part of emergency response and disaster recovery teams for national radioactive weapons facilities in both Colorado and Ohio. He helped design and develop some of the first radioactive “moon suits”, as they were known in those days, for responding to radioactive and toxic chemical spills.
In recent years Steve has developed and implemented comprehensive business continuity plans for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research/National Center for Atmospheric Research, which include chemical laboratories and super computing facilities. Steve also manages security, emergency response and business continuity operations for scientific research in remote locations such as the Amazon in Brazil, the Solomon Islands in the south pacific and observatory operations on the Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii. Steve took a sabbatical in 2002 to manage executive security and protection teams for the United States Olympic Committee in Salt Lake City. He also specializes in workplace violence profiling, assessment and response.
Steve is a certified Industrial Hygienist and when not busy with business continuity issues likes to relax by playing as much golf as possible.
