Wind Energy Forecasting Challenges and Opportunities
Speaker: Bill Mahoney
Abstract: Increasing wind energy's contribution to our nation's electrical supply
depends heavily on our ability to accurately predict the wind speed at the height
of the wind generators. This talk will discuss how wind forecasts are currently used by the utility
industry and challenges and opportunities associated with our national goal of increasing the
fraction of wind energy toward 20% by 2030.
