Dave Newport

Dave Newport is the Director of the Environmental Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU). He Chairs CU’s Carbon Neutrality Working Group and is a faculty associate in the Environmental Studies Department where he teaches a course in climate action planning.
Mr. Newport comes to Boulder from his previous post as Sustainability Director at the University of Florida. At Florida, Mr. Newport founded the university’s first sustainability initiative, published the first set of campus sustainability metrics compiled to global business standards and produced the university’s first climate action plan.
Mr. Newport is also co-author of the emerging assessment standard for campus sustainability, STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Reporting System. Mr. Newport is Secretary of the Board of Directors Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
