Scott Gardner is an Underwriting Co-Practice Leader with the National Employee Benefits Practice Group for Willis. Scott is based in the Denver, Colorado office and serves as the primary contact for Willis offices in the West, South Central and Southeast Regions.
Mr. Gardner's experience includes the financial analysis, rate development and underwriting of employee benefit programs for employers of all sizes and funding arrangements, with a primary focus on underwriting for experience rated mid-market and large national employer groups.
Scott's consulting services for Willis include:
- Negotiating the financial components of client renewals with insurance companies and stop loss providers on behalf of Willis clients.
- Assisting in financial and underwriting analysis throughout the year.
- Analyzing claims utilization and employer specific claims data to provide recommendations and guidance.
- Developing claims reserves and working rate projections for self-insured clients.
- Assisting in the development of employer contribution strategies.
- Developing cost adjustments based on plan design changes.
Scott's eighteen years of employee benefits experience also includes consulting roles at other firms, time as a group underwriter for a national insurance company, production underwriter for a stop loss and provider excess insurer, and benefit manager at a company of 2,500 employees. Scott is a graduate from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Statistics and Applied Mathematics.
