MEETING SUMMARY:
Auditorium Remodel Update:
Review of presentation to staff by John Pereira on the proposals to be presented to the UMC. A small design criteria committee is to be delegated to review and provide recommendations. MAG recommends that a similar review and input session be established for the Damon Room and the ML Main Seminar room remodels.
It was recommended that the facility-planning group be asked about the possibility of mounting a projector below the overhang on the Damon room. Inquiry should also be made as to how to darken the room more for brighter projection capabilities. Including drapes or shades to outside windows and the windows from the second floor above the Damon.
The MAG recommended that this group should be consulted for meeting room designs to provide advice and guidance for lighting, noise, multimedia capabilities, etc. It was further recommended that a representative from the facility-planning group serve on the MAG.
The MAG recommends that a set of standards be developed for each meeting room to determine the best use of multimedia. Including, but not limited to: internal/external lighting, noise, doorways, traffic areas, etc. Each room must be customized to its own particular set of needs for specific equipment, room arrangement, etc.
Multimedia Strategic Plan and Multimedia Budget:
A draft FY2000-FY2002 budget summary was distributed and discussed. It was recommended that additional clarification of the dollar amounts be verified, and that the budgets should also include items such as purchased services, maintenance contracts, spare parts, equipment, premium vs. standard services, etc.
ITC requested that a final FY2001 budget recommendation for multimedia equipment and services be provided by November 15. The Strategic Planning Group will work with the Engineering Group to get this information by the November 15 date.
Discussion was held on the NETS strategic plan and how the MAG could use this as a model to refine the MAG Strategic Plan. The MAG Strategic Plan Committee will finalize the Strategic Plan and have it available to the ITC by November 15, 1999.

John Pereira accepted an invitation to serve on the MAG and will join the group at its next meeting.
