In order to meet the growing demands for multimedia services it is necessary to identify short-term strategies and to develop a long-term plan to fulfill these needs. According to the latest Information Technology Council recommendations UCAR should continue to operate and support a leading-edge network and associated services including videoconferencing and multimedia applications. To accomplish these tasks we must inventory existing assets and services and examine the emerging technologies in order to make informed decisions on how best to proceed.
