UCAR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The mission of the Leadership Academy is to increase UCAR/NCAR's capacity for excellence through developing our current and future leaders.

UCAR's Leadership Academy offers a transformational experience that will deepen awareness and catalyze the development of crucial skills needed for our current and future leaders. Developed in 2003, this highly successful program offers real-world, experiential skill development; individualized development plans; practice opportunities; private coaching; peer mentors; support, feedback and the ability to contribute to UCAR/NCAR's success.

Based on UCAR's Management Competencies the program focuses on four key quadrants:

1. Self – personal goals, self-awareness, personal effectiveness, etc.
2. Others – interpersonal skills, leading & managing people, etc.
3. Teams – team development/effectiveness, project management, etc.
4. Organization – organizational knowledge/impact, business management, etc.

REVISED IMPORTANT DATES:
September 4, 2009 - Nomination deadline and participant selections
September 10, 2009 - Final selections made
September 23, 2009 - L/A Mentor Training

October 7, 2009 - L/A Kickoff Session
May 18, 2010 - Graduation Celebration

SELECTION PROCESS

Participants in the Academy are nominated by Division Directors, with approximately one or two participants per program. Final selections made by President's Council. In order to meet the criteria for participation, nominees must:

  • Supervise employees or have an influencing/impactful role.

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform significantly above the norm.

  • Have potential to provide large organization leadership.

  • Be able to attend the full program.

  • Want to attend the program.
