Imagine driving or biking along a scenic and peaceful road towards the majestic Flatirons at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Our Mesa Lab employees enjoy the pristine beauty of evergreen trees, wild flowers, and grazing deer as they ascend this road each morning. From the plateau at the base of the building you can see a panoramic view of the Boulder area below, and the spacious landscape that surrounds the area.

Architect I.M. Pei designed this landmark facility in 1963, and construction was completed in 1966. This lab features interactive scientific exhibits and a science store. Thousands of school children and other groups visited this facility last year. The Mesa Lab provides space for scientific divisions and programs.

The Foothills Lab's park-like campus is located in northeast Boulder and features convenient parking and accessibility to both Highway 36 and the Longmont Diagonal Highway (Hwy. 119). Walking and biking trails surround this lab, and employees enjoy watching small aircraft and gliders as they land at the nearby Boulder Airport.

Just across the street from Foothills Lab is our Center Green facility. This spacious facility offers comfortable office space and a Corporate Technical Training Center where employees can complete classes through our staff development program. This state-of-the-art computer-based training lab has the capacity to train up to 24 students and is available for use by any UCAR employee.

The Research and Aviation Facility is located at the Rocky Mountain Airport in nearby Broomfield. Employees at this location support the aviation projects that are an important part of the Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL).

Employees at our Washington, D.C. and Silver Spring, Maryland venues work in conjunction with federal agencies. Sixty employees at these two locations support our Visiting Scientist Program (VSP) and Joint Office for Science Support (JOSS).

Libraries offer a comprehensive selection of scientific publications for easy access by our staff.

Fitness Centers include exercise equipment, regularly scheduled fitness classes, and convenient shower and locker facilities.

Cafeterias feature a wide variety of wholesome breakfast and lunch menu items.
