EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (ELP)

The ELP was launched in 2006 at the request of UCAR management to help meet the growing expectations of executives in the areas of:

•  Strategic Alignment
•  Employee and Team Development
•  Scientific Leadership

The program format and competency areas were developed in collaboration with UCAR management, focus groups, Human Resources and Chain Reaction Partners. The ELP is tailored to meet the needs of UCAR lab/division/program directors, associate directors, etc.

The annual Executive Leadership Program is a 12 day commitment. The group of 12 participants meets 3 times for a four day module (dimension) over a 9 month period. Each module focuses on a specific dimension of leadership. Periodic discussion forums are facilitated by participants and each participant is paired with an executive coach for monthly individualized coaching sessions.

Dimension Areas:

Leaders as Learners
Collaborative Leadership
Leading an Effective Organization

Participant Goals

By choosing this program participants are making a commitment to professional effectiveness. With full participation, we want to deliver on these success factors:

•  Define and set the standard for scientific leadership.
•  Gain a new appreciation of UCAR Citizenship leading to increased synergy    among all divisions and programs.
•  Learn the importance of visioning and how to clearly articulate and    communicate it to others in the organization.
•  Explore the diversity needs at UCAR and how to support it.
•  Develop new tools to help with decision making, prioritization, and collaboration.
