Social Security
UCAR participates in the federal Social Security program for all employees and their eligible dependents and beneficiaries.
All staff members, beginning on their date of employment, participate in the Social Security program. Coverage for benefits under Social Security depends on the accumulated participation in the program with all employers.
Benefits available are for disability, surviving spouses and children, retirement and death. Details of coverage may be obtained from any local Social Security office.
You and UCAR contribute to the Social Security program as prescribed by law. You may request a summary of your account from the Social Security Administration and are urged to do so at least every three years in order that any errors in the accumulation record can be corrected.
