The Housing Office also has resources to help you with your search for
unfurnished facilities. (Keep in mind, you would need to provide the furniture.)
For longer term leases, (a year or more), this option may save you some
money. In order to best suit your needs, we can place you in a furnished
apartment or room for the first month. You can then use our resources to
help search for a longer term, unfurnished place.
Many single visitors have found renting a furnished room in a private
home to be a suitable solution. It's more economical, sometimes there's no
lease, and sometimes no deposit. We have plenty of people in the community
that enjoy renting rooms to NCAR visitors. Another benefit with this option
is making contacts in the Boulder area for future visits.
Attached apartments (apartments in private homes) are a
good option for a visitor who wants more privacy, but doesn't want to spend
the money on a regular apartment. Usually these options have a shared entry,
garage or laundry facilities. It's also nice to have a "host" there if
you need them!
We always try to find the best place for the best price for visitors whenever possible,
keeping their criteria in mind. Boulder is a growing city and that means
prices can fluctuate, especially in the summer months. We try to stay away
from the higher end "Corporate Rentals", and work with owners that
have reasonable prices. Usually, we know about availability about 1 month
in advance.
Please keep all of this information in mind as we search for the best
place for you!
