| Purpose: | The Temporary Worker (H-1B) visa is usually granted for an initial period of up to three years, may be extended up to a total of six years, and may be changed to a different type of visa at any time. Recipients are not subject to a requirement of foreign residency before applying for another type of visa to this country. This visa may take several months to obtain.
