Advocates for Finance and Administration Concerns (AFAC)
The UCAR Management Committee (UMC) sent a memorandum to all UCAR staff last January. In that memorandum, the UMC renewed its commitment to institutional equity. They asked that mechanisms be put in place to solicit input from staff on equity issues. It is hoped that these mechanisms will help divisions or programs identify and resolve issues within the division or program, and alert UCAR management, when necessary, through the division/program director. In response to this directive, Katy Schmoll has solicited volunteers from each F&A group to form a new committee, the Advocates for Finance and Administration Concerns (AFAC). As advocates, the committee will adhere to strict confidentiality with any information or concern brought to their attention, as a whole or to one of its members.
The purpose of the committee is to act as a sounding board for F&A staff work concerns. When appropriate, further action will be taken. This may be a recommendation or request for resolution to the Vice President for Finance and Administration, or to the Human Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC).
An F&A staff member may submit any work related concern to an individual committee member or to the committee as a whole. Work related concerns include a concern that has been difficult to resolve or one that the staff member feels uncomfortable taking to their direct management. Work related concerns may be submitted in writing or verbally. The committee can be contacted by e-mail at afac@fanda.ucar.edu, or by contacting individual members through inner office mail or e-mail. The committee members are listed below. Staff members also have the option of meeting with the committee to discuss their concern. The committee will address the concern as soon as possible and provide a timely response to the staff member.
